DESCRIPTION
My first source to sea river trip was British Columbia’s Fraser, an 800-mile journey including a first descent of the upper reaches. Looking back, this adventure leaves me with a wistful, historic impression. It was less than twenty years ago, but plenty has changed. Back then, pack rafts were an emerging technology. Now they are in widespread use. When I ran the Fraser, I was still a confident class V kayaker. It is not a trip I could repeat today. The Fraser is a treasured memory for me, and the start of my source to sea project. That endeavor, like the mighty Fraser, continues to roll on.
